(Wireless Encryption Protocol) протокол шифрования в беспроводной связи, протокол WEPдругое название - Wired Equivalent Privacy (безопасность, аналогичная защите проводных сетей). Базируется на схеме шифрования RC4, имеет 128-битовый ключ шифрования передаваемых по радиоканалу данных, состоящий из 104-битового мастер-ключа, общего для всех станций, и 24-битовой синхропосылки, генерируемой для каждого фрейма и передаваемой в открытом виде в его заголовке. Часть стандарта 802.11b. Не отличается надёжностью, поскольку известна атака, позволяющая восстанавливать ключ за несколько минут на обычном ноутбуке.
